Caring for Your Fruit Press

Depending on how often you use your fruit grinder, it may sit in storage for a decent amount of the year. However, if you want to get the most out of your press, you will need to keep it in good condition year-round. To keep your press around for as long as possible, follow these steps on proper care!

Tip #1:

After each use, all you need to do is rinse it with hot water and either dab it dry with a clean cloth or let it air dry. Whatever you do though, do not use any soap to clean it!

Tip #2:

For protection, all wooden parts of your wine press must be sealed to resist any moisture. The best product we suggest for our customers is EZ-DO. This is an FDA approved, non-toxic polyurethane gel that will seal and protect your wine press. Another option is Poxy Coat Clear Coating, which will provide your press a hard armor free from cracking, chipping, or peeling.

Tip #3:

To avoid your cast iron grinder from rusting, lubricating it with a light coat of vegetable oil will do the trick.

Tip #4:

Sanitizing wine presses is another super important step for safety reasons. After washing all surfaces with hot water, disinfect the fruit grinder with a sanitizing solution to prevent cross-contamination and to kill any microorganisms. After it has been sanitized, rinse the press again with hot water and let it air dry.
