If you’ve considered getting into the hobby of winemaking, but are unsure if the investment is worth it and whether or not you need one, we will show you the plethora of benefits of owning a wine press to make your own wine!
1. More than just grape wine
Did you know a wine press does more than only press grapes? There are many types of fruit, such as oranges, apples, peaches, and blackberries that can you can include in your batch of wine! Can you imagine how tasty your wine can be by adding berries? You can get as creative as you want! Additionally, those fruits are handled much better when pressed with a wine press. If you don’t have a press, then you would have to use a blender or food processor, which will take much longer to settle after fermentation.
2. Batches on batches on batches!
Depending on how much wine you want to produce, investing in a wine press will help your efforts out tremendously. If you have a decent amount of fruit available, then there’s no reason you shouldn’t invest in a press. To produce one gallon of wine, it takes approximately 14lbs of grapes. While it is possible to create perfectly good wine without a press, wine presses do however allow you to extract more juice from the pulp and at a faster rate. So if you have a lot of fruit and plan on making 30-40 gallons a year, then we highly suggest purchasing a wine press to reduce your labor time.
3. A fun hobby
If you’re a wine connoisseur and are looking for a new hobby, then winemaking is perfect for you! How neat would it be to create your very own wine that you can consume and even sell! Once you’ve produced enough batches and bottled them up, there’s practically no need to purchase another bottle from the store again! There is so much achievement and feeling of pride when creating something with your own hands.
4. Make apple cider
With a wine press, you’re not just limited to wine. You can also make delicious apple cider! If you are considering making both, you will need a grinder. Our Homesteader Wine Press is the same frame as our Homesteader Apple Cider press; the only difference is that it doesn’t come with the apple grinder. The grinder is essential when making apple cider, as it is what grinds the apples up. Fortunately, this is a piece you can buy separately.
As you can see, there are many benefits to owning one of our wine presses. If you’re going to make wine, then you might as well do it the right way! Give us a call at Happy Valley Ranch, and we can assist in your purchase and help you decide which press will be the most beneficial to you.
